“I was told by another company's mec hanic I needed a new timing chain at a large sum of money. I took my vehicle to H77 Auto and got me in in just a day. The mechanic came out and listened to the engine but couldn't hear the problem because the noise only presents when the engine is cold. He told me my vehicle is known for this issue at my high mileage. He further educated me on options and costs but in the end did not recommend spending the money to rebuild the timing. Said I could have many more miles before it breaks. My vehicle is 16 years old. That I could get several more years from it was great news because I live on a fixed income. This shop is honest, helpful and doesn't recommend work that wasn't needed. Saved me money. I would while hearted recommend them.”

“I set up an appointment the night before I dropped my car off. I have a Honda Accord that had three warning lights on along with a sway bar linkage problem. Some of the codes were not making sense based on the repair history of the vehicle. Rodney called for clarification and determined my vehicle had a bad caliper. They also warned me that I should watch the brake fluid level in case the low level which triggered the warning was caused by something else.”

“This is the third car I've brought to these guys in about 20 or so years and I've never left a review. Last time it was my rotors which, of course, was quoted at a price lower than everybody else. They didn't have the parts that day but told me to come the following day which was a Saturday. I didn't realize that they closed at noon on Saturdays until about 10:30 am. I was out picking up a couple for their checkout time at 11 and I knew I would have to hurry or wait till Monday. I brought the couple with me with their permission of course. They put 2 mechanics on my vehicle that were on 'standby' for servicing my car. I was given this special treatment at no extra cost and done in 40 minutes! As always they showed me the identifying part numbers to the new parts to verify the new purchase and hurried home as I had caused them to be 10 min after closing. I will definitely be moe Chris ro then the next time I need a mechanic. They will always have my business.”

“This place rocks. From the front counter to the guys in the bays, and even the restroom and waiting area. My wife found them through local Facebook recommendations. They did an inspection, were quick, friendly and reasonable cost. My next visit was after a bad experience at NTB, trying to buy a battery for a Subaru. They didn't have the right one, and wouldn't call another location. I called my wife, who sent me here. In 4 minutes, I had the battery in hand and a paid invoice. I've been back for a battery for my truck, after I had it jumped and pulled in w/o an appt. 25 minutes, I was on the road. Last visit was for another inspection. They scored a 10 on all visits. I've worked with dozens of shops over 40 years, and do a lot of my own repairs. These guys will flourish because they are honest, polite and hard working.”

“For many years, I've used Hwy 78 Auto for repairs and maintenance, from transmission replacement to oil changes. Their prices are great, they will repair when cheaper than “replace,” and they always give a real time frame for the repair. Consistently, they have “under-sold and over-delivered.” I've heard honest mechanics are hard to find, but Kevin and his team prove this wrong. I'm very happy these guys are close to home and I can't imagine taking my cars to anyone else.

“I had Hwy 78 Auto perform an oil change, state inspection and general welfare check on my daughter’s 2012 Nissan Frontier. The truck has 140,000+ miles on it. They cleared out a sputtering windshield washer sprayer but otherwise said the truck was in good condition. That’s great service and gives peace of mind to a father. Their shop is clean, the waiting room is nice and comfortable, and Danielle is super pleasant and friendly. Great experience!”

“My family has lived in Wylie Texas since 2005. New to the area we needed to find a mechanic, and fast. We had moved into our new home from a one bedroom apartment in Addison. Our new next door neighbor said that thier experience with this shop was great. This was the most sound advice we needed. I can tell you hands down this family owned mechanic shop is incredible. We use noone else now. They are extremely helpful and trustworthy. Rodney is extremely knowledgeable and Kevin is so kind and personable over the phone. They are even open on Saturday. Our child like many parents in the area is into many sports so our week and weekends are collectively hectic.many times we call explain what is wrong with our vehical , drop off car late Friday night, slide the key in the over night deposit slot on thier shop door, next day they call us Saturday morning once they are done and we come pick it up. They even take card payments over the phone. They shoot ya straight, never take advantage and will educate you along the way. We have even sent visiting family members in from out of state to them. They do just about anything I belive. From my experience we have experienced oil changes, state inspections, brake repairs, shock repair, engine challanges, battery replacement, coolant leaks, sensor replacements, rear and headlight bulb replacements. This team have all good people employed here and if the entire job could be costly the will let you know proactively and work with ya, to have some other things done that may not be as pressing in coming weeks so it doesn't hit your wallet too hard if you prefer. “Exceptional customer service & morals from these guys have earned them a new family of permanent clients! If the work doesn't need to be done they won't pretend it does or fabricate something else just to get paid. I called Hwy 78 Auto an hour before closing today (a Saturday) because I'm taking a road trip on Monday & felt like my brakes have been needing work (or at least looked at). I called several shops before them & all turned me away because they weren't open for business or wouldn't be able to get around to my vehicle until Monday. The man on the phone eventually, reluctantly told me to come on in. After looking at my brakes & test driving my van, they actually told me my brakes didn't need any work! He said I would be just fine taking my trip. Most auto places 'find' something to do in order to get at least some money from me for their time but this guy was sending me home! ...so I asked him to change my oil!”

That was me for many years until I went to Hwy 78 auto. My car was getting an oil change and I over heard another woman state that she drove all the way from Richardson for that exact same reason. “I have been to 78 auto several times and repairs were always performed competently and in a timely manner.

In my most recent visit, they surprised me with how ethical they are-- there was confusion between the receptionist and the repair technitian and a service I asked them to hold off on was performed without my authorization. Rather than undo the work or ask me if I wanted to pay for it, they told me I would not be billed for it and said that I could pay later if I wanted to, but that I could receive it for free due to their error. Funny thing is, that makes me want to return to pay for it.

I find that reviews about everything going fine are not always helpful, because, while we want things to go well, its the times they don't where you get to see the true colors of the buisness. These are great people and I recommend them -- now more emphatically than before!”

He told me to bring it on down and would get me in and out in about an hour. I drove down there, they got my car right into the bay and we were back on the road within 40 minutes of pulling up! “I don't usually give out 5 stars, but I think Hwy 78 auto definitely deserves the honor. As a female, I usually feel like I am being taken on my auto repairs, but that didn't happen with Hwy 78 Auto. I had to have my Yukon in twice recently, once for a problem that it would not stay running, which they diagnosed and fixed right away and then a second time when the catalytic converter went out. Of course my husband was not in town when it broke down, so I had to be the one to take it in. They were very reasonable for each fix and I appreciate being able to take my vehicle somewhere where they are not just trying to sell me on repairs I don't need. They did what they promised and in a timely manner so I was not without my vehicle for very long. I wish more businesses were run like these guys and will definitely take my car back when it needs any kind of service.”
